sing your souls vibration

April 23, 2013 in your mind

There is a tribe in Africa, where a woman who knows she is pregnant goes out into the wilderness with a few friends and together they pray and meditate until they hear the song of their child.  They recognize that every soul has its own vibration
that expresses its unique flavor and purpose. When the women attune to the song, they sing it out loud.  Then they return to the tribe and teach it to everyone else.

When the child is born, the community gathers and sings the child’s song to him or her. Later, when the child enters education, the village gathers and chants the child’s song. If the child falls, or hurts its knee, someone picks it up and sings its song to it.  When the child passes through the initiation to adulthood, the people again come
together and sing. At the time of marriage, the person hears his or her song.

Finally, when the soul is about to pass from this world, the family and friends gather at the person’s bed, just as they did at their birth, and they sing the person to the next life.

To the African tribe there is one other occasion upon which the villagers sing to the child. If at any time during his or her life, the person commits a crime or aberrant social act, the individual is called to the center of the village and the people in the community form a circle around them. Then they sing their song to them.

The tribe recognizes that the correction for antisocial behavior is not punishment; it is love and the remembrance of identity. When you recognize your own song, you have no desire or need to do anything that would hurt another.

A friend is someone who knows your song and sings it to you when you have forgotten it. Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.

You may not have grown up in an African tribe that sings your song to you at crucial life transitions, but life is always reminding you when you are in tune with yourself and when you are not. When you feel good, what you are doing matches your song, and when you feel awful, it doesn’t. In the end, we shall all recognize our song and sing it well.

Just keep singing and you’ll find your way home.

Why? What’s our real motivation?

January 20, 2013 in your mind

Today’s feature article, by spiritual + fitness guru Alyssa Huntley owner of 11:11 Life Styling.

I’ve been doing a lot of studying lately on yoga philosophy and spirituality….  and it’s got me wondering some of the big “Whys”? in life….

There are obviously the Big Why questions….but also some of the smaller day to day Why’s, that have to do with my lifestyle and occupation.

For example, in reading the Yoga Sutra’s by Patanjali, the text is about purifying the body, heart, mind and then God Realization….. and it has me wondering what is the real motivation behind health and nutrition and personal fitness?

Is it mostly ego driven – to look great and feel great, or is there a hidden motivation that is perhaps much deeper, that maybe we’re not even consciously aware of…?

Are we purifying ourselves in fitness and health, to become enlightened?  We naturally and instinctively know that when we eat healthy and exercise that we feel better – our mood lifts, we have more pure energy and are generally happier and more carefree… These are signs of purification, of detoxing…they are steps to finding our True Nature.  As our body cleans and clears, we can better listen to our heart, our mind can also begin to de-clutter, quiet and truly hear and be present….we can more readily focus and calm and find inner peace….  It’s an interesting thought…..  And personally I think it like it, it has more depth and meaning than just wanting to be fit, firm and look cute.

…For me personally in teaching fitness and nutrition, I’ve had a strong duality within – people are coming to loose weight, and so that’s what I do with them, help them reach their goals…but inside, that’s never been my dream.  I got into fitness and nutrition because I wanted people to love their body’s and enjoy being active, and do so in a healthy and fun way.  After suffering from an eating disorder, weight obsession, and body dismorphic disorder…. the last thing I wanted to do was promote “weight loss” – because to me personally it has been linked to so much pain, both physically and mentally.  I just wanted people to enjoy their body and get active…..so it’s kind of been a strange journey for me, and sets me apart from so many other instructors and trainers, who are very hard core into “loosing weight”.

Anyhow, with looking at fitness, nutrition and health with the possibility of Self Realization, purity and enlightenment, it gives me new hope…..maybe, just maybe, I’ve been unknowingly on the right track the whole time <3

the total reboot new year smoothie

January 16, 2013 in conscious eats, healthy drinks, your body

Want to clear space for your full potential in 2013 and step into the new year energized? We thought so! That’s why you’ll want to plug in the Vitamix for this juicy, green-power–packed smoothie.

It’s designed for a full-body reboot: Each ingredient contains potent detoxifiers—and a great nutrition profile.

Protein-packed kale boosts alkalinity and calms inflammation, making it a great for food for releasing excess weight. Ginger plays backup by revving your digestion and circulation systems.

Humble celery is a natural diuretic that has the built-in bonus of hydrating electrolytes. (Buy it organic, though. It’s on the dirty dozen list!) Parsley can clear congestion and is a friend of your liver, spleen, and stressed-out adrenal glands. This means more energy and boosted immunity.

Dandelion root tea is a top liver detoxer, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (and the many Western tea companies that bag it). And when your liver’s functioning optimally, it’s much better at removing waste, breaking down fats, and supporting your digestion and health.

discovering moments of synchronicity

January 14, 2013 in your mind

How many times do you suddenly think to call an old friend and when you do, the person says “I was just thinking about you”?  Then, the moment presents a synchronicity of some kind?

When you feel like you are in just the right place at just the right time, it is to consciously receive important information.  If we look closer at this feeling, there is a noticeable intuitive urge that directs you.  It usually happens at moments of amazing discovery and accomplishments, also is most often done unconsciously.

What is Synchronicity ?

“Synchronicity can be defined as a non-causal but meaningful relationshipbetween events or states of mind within the human psyche and events in the outside world. More simply, we could call it the experiences of “meaningful coincidence”. We have all had experiences that we intuitively recognize as meaningful, though we would be hard pressed to explain them in rational terms. In fact, these “meaningful coincidences” are not coincidences at all but spontaneous realizations of the underlying interconnectedness of all things within the Universe.”

If you bump into someone you haven’t met in a long time then it is advisable to stop and talk to them. Be aware of a message that they might have for you. Follow the coincidence through and you’ll be amazed, on a increasingly regular basis!

Coincidences are often a sign that you are going with the flow of life, doing what your heart desires (divine will) and following your in-tuition (inner guidance – gut feeling).

Meaningful Coincidences fill us with a sense of awe, even shock, as we experience more and more unexplainable similarities with our thought patterns and our experienced reality ! The emergent has it’s seed sown in the garden of thought.

Be prepared to take off!!

The magic of coincidence is the magic of consciousness that creates and shapes all matter in the cosmos. There is meaning in all that comes forth, though sometimes our intellect clouds the message coming through … The random events which bring about a mystical coincidence are something you should probably be paying more attention to as there seems to be amessage coming through from the invisible universe.

Consciousness drives certain unseen forces which create our experience and by living a life that is conscious and with intent, we begin to change at an individual level which affects everything and everyone around us like the domino effect sending ripples of energy across the earth and throughout the infinite cosmos.

So consciously create !

It’s time to wake up and bring this intuitive part of your synchronicity more fully into your consciousness.  Ego thoughts are words we say to ourselves about our situation in order to “logically” figure out how to get things done in the world.  These thoughts come up spontaneously from years of learning to feed the ego.

Keys ways to tap into your guiding thoughts:

  • Open up your thoughts and start expecting synchronicity, including the intuitions that are part of it’s process.
  • To do this, you must clearly identify such guidance by learning to distinguishing your “guiding” thoughts from ordinary “strategic ego thoughts”.
  • If you closely observe, you can begin to feel another kind of thought, one that is usually more spontaneous.
  • This thought may feel like it merely drops into your daily thoughts, usually with no direct connection to “logical” reasoning.
  • These thoughts usually come with an image of us doing something, or a feeling that urges us to take some action that we feel in our gut.
  • These thoughts, are our guidance.  Once followed, they usually lead to an important synchronicity.
  • Last but not least, stay in a state of alertness as much as possible for the next guiding intuition to arrive.  Don’t let a hunch or an image go by without seriously considering it.  Ask yourself “Why did I think that now?”. Play with it.
syn·chro·nic·i·ty definition  /ˌsiŋ-krə-ˈnis-ət-ē, ˌsin-/ Function: n
:  the coincidental occurrence of events and especially psychic events (as similar thoughts in widely separated persons or a mental image of an unexpected event before it happens) that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality —used especially in the psychology of C. G. Jung

a calm breathing exercise

November 26, 2012 in your mind

The holiday Season is here! It’s exciting, it’s busy and my goodness, sometimes it’s a little too much. Take a break from your holiday shuffle, to calm your mind and re-energize your spirits.

Begin in a comfortable sitting position, in a place where you will not be interrupted for about 5 minutes (or more). Close your eyes, and bring your attention to your breath. Listen and watch your breath for a bit, making a connection of how it feels in your body to breathe. When you feel ready, mindfully begin to slow and extend your exhalation breath…. you may notice that your inhale slows and lengthens as well. As you breathe, notice the changes that occur in your body and mind with curiosity, and drop any thoughts from your day. Use this time as a mini-vacation away from any concerns or responsibilities, and just experience you, breathing and relaxing. Take as much time as you like here. Then, in your own time, open your eyes, and let your breath return to normal. (It may remain deeper and slower all on it’s own). Acknowledge yourself for taking the time to relax, with gratitude, and continue on with your day.

Happy Healthy Holidays.
